As many of you know I've been working for an organization called Artists for Peace and Justice the past few years that provides education for kids in Haiti, a country that needs no introduction for its poverty and devastation following the 2010 earthquake. 50% of the population there lives on less than $1.25 per day and over 80% of students drop out of school after 6th grade because they can’t afford to continue their education. APJ seeks to meet this need by providing high quality, free secondary and college level education to some of the most deserving kids in the world. I've seen the impacts of these programs first hand (despite the fact that my eyes appear to be closed in that photo to the left) and they're nothing short of extraordinary. They're why I work for APJ and why I'm asking for your help (read money) right now.
In addition to what we raise directly, if we raise the most money out of all the other organizations in this competition we can win an additional $100,000. That adds up to full scholarships next year for 200 students at our high school. 200 students. That's a ton.
So I'm asking you to give what you can. Seriously, any amount will do (as long as it's at least $10 because that's the minimum I guess. Sorry to all the would be $5 donors out there). Every penny will go to our programs and allow thousands of kids to continue to receive an education they never would have had access to otherwise. If you want to know more feel free to get in touch and I'd be happy to go into detail about the work we're doing and why this is an incredibly worthwhile cause.
Thank you in advance for your help and support!
